Arca Tentyris is part of the Federation of Communities of Damanhur, which since 1975 has developed a model of community life that has spread from Italy to various parts of the planet: Croatia, Norway, Spain, Japan, Australia... The community is understood both as residential and a productive settlement, in which the members carry on a model of self-sufficient society, connected with the territory, but with cultural and spiritual autonomy, both as a way of developing projects related to work, education, being together and so on .

In the world, the need for alternative social realities to the system based on consumption-finance-pollution is increasingly felt, to create small settlements, connected in a solidarity network and based on the direct relationship between people. Living together and creating communities is an exciting and demanding commitment, which must be carefully designed and developed without improvisation, as evidenced by the numerous attempts by large and small groups that stay together for a few years and then dissolve because something has gone wrong.

The members of the APS Arca Tentyris live in community, some for forty years, have personally participated in the development of the community model expressed by the APS and as part of the project they have met and collaborated with representatives of similar experiences in the world. With the spirit of sharing their experiences, to make possible the birth of other community realities, the APS Arca Tentyris organizes and hosts training campuses, exchange, implementation of know-how on the creation of intentional community settlements. Among the most popular initiatives, we point out in particular the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE), which takes place every summer, in collaboration with Gaia NGO and Damanhur Education NGO.
