passionate experimenters of alternative social models
about us
Casa del Lago
Casa del Lago is a rustic and well-kept country house, just a stone's throw from the Porta Della Luna and the Baita. Two houses were built partly in stone and partly in wood, obtained by recovering an old farmhouse.
It is an intimate place that welcomes a small group of people: there are currently six of us, plus a teenage son. We experience a coherent and exportable model of community life, family-run, where care for the territory and beauty go hand in hand.
The place is magical, the spirits of nature are very present, and the stars seem close and intent on opening the doors of communication between different dimensions.
Our goal is to encourage the creation of spaces dedicated to well-being and international projects. The family comprises people of different nationalities, and four languages are spoken. A water source for us is the magical heart of the territory; it is a presence that gives life to the entire material and subtle ecosystem.
The water connects us to Porta Della Luna and the Baita Temple, creating an extraordinarily energetic island.
Dendera
Dendera currently consists of 10 people ... and various cats.
Our family lives in a beautiful area in a valley, located 15 minutes from the central area of Damanhur.
We share a large territory with the Magilla family, partly with joint projects. The region is characterized by beautiful and sweet nature, rich in water sources and ancient rocks, surrounded by woods and countryside for regenerating walks and a wonderful panorama.
We live in different housing structures around the main house, self-produced by Damanhurians and built with eco material and with careful respect for the environment. Then there is a self-built straw and clay house, some wooden houses made entirely by our inhabitants, and a small camping area.
The function we have most at heart is exchanging experiences with people and communities, both in Italy and the world: we love to offer hospitality to those who want to approach and experience our model of community life created on a shared spiritual basis.
To allow different types of people to stay with us for a period, we have different types of guests, from those who are just guests to those who choose to participate in different ways in community life, including the work exchange.
Our family is an international group from Peru, Germany, Croatia, Holland, and various Southern, Central, and Northern Italy regions. We speak Italian, English, German, Croatian, Spanish, French, and Dutch, but above all, the language of the heart.
During the year, we host people from the Campus project and have been the privileged venue for the Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) summer course for some years: in an intensive month, you learn a lot about the dynamics and practical experiences of community life, a program certified by Gaia Education. We organize exchanges between young people through the Erasmus+ program, and we like the idea of creating programs for young people approaching community life.
In addition to hospitality, we love the self-sufficiency project; we take care of various agricultural greenhouses and self-sustainability in all forms, aspects to be increased with new people willing to support.
In all this, the ritual aspect of life as a spiritual ecosystem of various living beings is essential and central to us. We are in a magical territory, where altars are dedicated to the different elements and meditative paths of Spirals and Labyrinths you can experience.
By defining ourselves with the other families of the Arca Tentyris community, "People of Water" (each of the Damanhurian communities has its element of reference), we identify ourselves very much with the feminine energy of welcome and care, a frequency present in family members, men, and women.
In our family today, we cover the age spectrum ranging from 27 to 70 years: you can exchange with us on different human, historical, social, and spiritual experiences of Damanhur, from the early seventies to those of the centers in the world up to other types of communities, including urban ones and of young people.
We love to discuss esoteric themes, Damanhurian philosophy, and other schools as points of connection and exchange between spiritual movements. We have life experiences in different communities, from Tamera, Auroville, Findhorn, Likazien, and many others worldwide, small and large.
We are eager to meet you. You can contact us by email at: dendera@damanhur.org
Eco
Our family is called ECO, and we have existed since 1999 when a group of Damanhurians was attracted here by the characteristics of this territory, the energy frequencies, and the beauty it emanates.
Since then, when there was only a small ruin to be restored, the dream led us to expand the living spaces and land available to include ruins and ground to create an authentic spiritual village: Borgo Mateco.
We are currently 12 adults, a 10-year-old child, and occasional guests, dogs, and cats.
We are located in Valchiusella, about 7 minutes by car from DamanhurCrea (Vidracco), an important meeting place and reference point for Damanhur, and easily reachable by bicycle.
We live in a hilly area of about 2 hectares consisting of a large orchard of 500 plants of various fruits, nine hives of industrious bees that help maintain it, a generous vegetable garden, and a garden of herbs and flowers, especially roses. As in all of Damanhur, smoking is not allowed here.
The area is immersed in silence, accompanied by the fresh air that blows in the evening, with the woods behind and in front of the valley and the moon rising right in front of the house: everything invites you to listen.
It is a territory crossed by many wild animals and birds that enrich life.
Unique places are dedicated to hosting and directing subtle and spiritual energies: a spiral with menhirs welcomes near the greeting tree, a consecrated altar for ritual fires, an altar dedicated to contact with the nature spirits of this territory, close to a chestnut tree over 300 years old.
It is a territory that nourishes!
Our neighbors are friends with whom to exchange, support and plan together.
We gladly host, in a double room with a bathroom, those who want to spend short or medium-term periods with us, even in exchange for work, especially in the summer when the season requires more attention to the area, sharing with them the richness of our spiritual choice.
The activities of the family are dedicated to energy self-sufficiency (care of the territory and cutting wood, solar panels, attention to water) and food (vegetable garden, fruit trees, and transformation of food), and to the care of relationships between us and inside of us, valid for the spiritual realization of community living.
As proper Italians, we like pizza and invite friends over the weekend as an opportunity to exchange.
In the next period, we will set up a small chicken coop to have fresh and healthy eggs, and we are planning to create an area for meditation and outdoor meetings under the trees of a grove to be completed.
Our greatest dream is to create a complete Spiritual Village! In the area, there are still several ruins, a large house and a smaller one still to be restored, and many different corners and sizes that can inspire the life of the Borgo in many ways.
There is still a lot to create! There is ample room for everyone's initiative and to carry out the individual missions of those who want to join us!
Do you know the book entitled "Liber S"? It can help to share this vision!
Magilla
Magilla was the first permanent settlement in the Val di Chy area in the 1980s. From a heavily degraded farmhouse, a technologically advanced residence was born in the center of an area characterized by the significant presence of water and large ancient rocks.
Magilla offers hospitality, renewable energy, and self-sufficiency as its characterizing elements.
This family home is surrounded by nature. A beautiful building with solar panels, hand-painted walls, and much more to discover. It has a fantastic garden with fountains, greenhouses, a spiral, and a view of the plain that will leave you breathless!
The Magilla family currently consists of 18 people, a dog, three cats, two goats, and many chickens. The youngest member is 27 years old, and the oldest is 73. It hosts several highly experienced people who create a warm and welcoming space from which our guests can benefit. Staying in Magilla offers an engaging and transformative experience based on the mystical and practical philosophy of Damanhur. By visiting here, experience the essence and wisdom of our family with over 30 years of community life and research. Bring home concrete tools for a regenerative future.
Or stay with us, immerse yourself in nature, and take the time to reconnect with yourself, supported by this extraordinary territory!
During your stay, you will be part of the Magilla family, participating in social life, getting in touch with our beautiful and fast-paced territory, enjoying the meals and activities of our community, cooking shifts, storytelling, and much more.
The languages spoken by the family are Italian, English, French, and Dutch.
We asked some of our guests what Magilla is for them; you can read their answers here.
Magilla is a warm environment in which to live, where I find space and support for what manifests itself in every moment of my journey. Respectful, sincere, caring, offering space. (Antonius)
Magilla is to me like my Damanhurian family. A landing point where I can always land safely and have beautiful encounters with wise souls. (Mirte)
The Magilla family, for me, means spiritual family. I have deeply experienced how to share a deep healing connection beyond a common language. (Elias)
Come and see for yourself!
We always have room for tiny house guests, business exchanges, and travelers!
Porta della Luna
“Gateway of the Moon” is one of the historic family-nucleos of Damanhur, it is the first autonomous construction eco-building restored in 1998. Composed of 14 citizens, 5 of which originally founded the home, and Fringuello Papiro the oldest Damanhurian at 93, they specialize in hospitality and local culture. They have 16 rooms available, host various groups attending courses and activities in Damanhur. Porta della Luna provides a bio-pond and sauna, available for guest use. Their territory includes a large greenhouse and fields, providing 0km food all year round. They are the custodians of the Baita Temple.
Porta della Luna is one of the historic family nuclei of Damanhur, and the house is the first Damanhurian construction built in eco-building in complete autonomy, recovering some ruins in 1998. Over the years, many people have come and gone, but a core of five people from the group still lives here. Currently, 14 citizens live with a prevalence of people from the Piedmont region (north of Italy): this allows guests and other damanhurians to get to know the local culture.
As the name indicates, the place is a moon door; therefore, the family has focused on hospitality, which has found different expressions over the years.
Porta della Luna is a large house that has 16 rooms available. There is also a space on the ground floor with a kitchen and dining room where various groups attending courses in Damanhur or in the Arca Tentyris are hosted for lunches and dinners. Living in Porta Della Luna provides the luxury of having a bio-pond and a sauna available - obviously also open to the use of guests.
The vast territory includes a large greenhouse and fields of crops to provide the family and guests with zero-kilometer vegetables and fruit almost all year round. The three-dimensional spiral is the first to be built with water flow, an element that characterizes this community. Under the giant oak, you can not only eat and meditate but also connect to the Air element through the altar integrated into the tree. There is a dedicated altar for each element of nature (Water, Air, Fire, Earth), while the Menhir near the labyrinth of Pan is connected with the other Menhirs of the Arca region.
An important point of attention for the family is the protection of the Baita Temple, located next to Porta della Luna, an important place for all Damanhur.
Many people live in the family who have lived in Damanhur almost from the beginning, so there is often a precious opportunity to hear stories, anecdotes, and tales of many different moments in Damanhur's history. Among the Damanhurian pioneers, there is also Fringuello Papiro, who, at 93 years old, is the oldest Damanhurian and carefully attends every meeting, dedicates himself daily to contact with the plant world, and always gives a hand to those who cook. A true example of a community citizen. All family members are very practical, and with a great spirit of collaboration, they overcome every obstacle and achieve unthinkable things. The energy of Porta Della Luna stimulates common dreams and is happy to welcome ideas, thoughts, and desires even from you, who are reading these words...
Rimaremo
Our Nucleus was born from people who have lived together for many years, albeit in compositions of different family nuclei, and who at some point have chosen to meet to form a single family. We lived in one house for three years, hugging and adapting to be together. With the entry of new people and the desire to have adequate spaces, not having the possibility to invest in a large house that could contain everyone, we decided to experiment with the solution of the “diffused core,” each living on their own but keeping common beats. We meet at least twice a week in a common area we have chosen as the central meeting place or by wandering around in our homes to eat together or discuss the issues that interest us. “Our territory is made up of people,” good relations with the neighborhood, and good relations between us.
Solidarity and sharing are the basis that unites us; we know we are a family that can count on closeness and mutual help, as happens in a blood family that grows apart but maintains solid emotional relationships. We are open to new entrants, but we consider it formative - and a fundamental requirement - to have experienced community life for at least a year in a classic nucleo. Our objectives are centered on the quality of personal life as a "sacred regenerative space" that allows us to bring more productive energy to the projects of the larger community we are part of and in which we recognize ourselves. We have four teenage children to whom we dedicate time and shared resources and in whom we believe we should invest as they are our future. We believe in community life, and our challenge is to "stay together despite the physical distance," hence the name chosen with humor and which contains the sacred word "RIMA," which means "courage." (Rimaremo in the Italian language means We will stay).
We are located between Vidracco with four houses and Vistrorio with 2. The main characteristics of our human group are the student spirit because we like to party by inviting friends and acquaintances, and the frankness in relationships, which are accurate and direct, sometimes we discuss but how in every good family, we know how to go beyond.
We are Rondone and Falena, Artemia, and Learco, aged 9; Lince and Vittorio, aged 11; and Mola Mola with Milos and Morgan, aged 10 and 12. Farfalla, monk Arsella and Nitticora.
Tesan
Tesan is currently the main expansion project of the community. The name indicates the moment of sunrise in the ancient Etruscan language (in the Damanhurian communities, original names coexist with words coming from peoples of the past) and underlines the position of this house, with the highest altitude in the whole community. It is inserted in the Val di Chy area, exactly halfway between the villages of Lugnacco and Pecco.
The house, on four levels, built in the 1960s, can accommodate up to a dozen people, more spaces for hospitality, and, on the ground floor, workshops and activities open not only to citizens of the community but also to people of the Valley. Its location, on the ring road that connects the towns of this area, makes it an ideal place to host services to the public.
The house is surrounded by about half a hectare of the courtyard, with fruit trees and animal spaces. Within a radius of one kilometer, there are other wooded plots, part of walks that in this area are much appreciated by lovers of mountain biking, horse riding, and trekking.
At the moment, Tesan is not inhabited as, after many years of semi-abandonment, it is awaiting the energy and structural interventions necessary to accommodate many people; the hope is that the first settlements can take place by the end of 2022.
The group promoting the initiative is currently made up of three people who live in Alteco - in the Borgo Mateco area - with hens, geese, peacocks, and quails, plus four others who live in other Damanhurian sites and ... those who will join in the meantime, to complete the group!
